Small Claims
Court: Alaska residents file small claims cases are filed in their local District Court or Magistrate Court, where they are assigned to the Small Claims Procedure.
Jurisdictional Limit: $10,000.00
Answer Period: Defendant must file an answer to the complaint within 20 days.
Attorney Representation: Alaska allows attorney representation in small claims court.
Eviction Cases: Eviction cases cannot be filed in small claims court.
Jury Trial: Jury trials not permitted in small claims court.
